I come from Germany, am married to Kerstin and we have three children – Jakob, Emilie and Hannah. I am the leader of our team and took over the ministry in April of 2010.
I love to be able to serve the seamen in word and deed and to see what God is doing in their lives.
I also come from Germany. Since autumn 2015, I support the work in the port of Rotterdam as the 2nd full-time port chaplain. It’s nice to see how seamen are happy, if they recognize that there is somebody who would like to care for them holistically. Since August 2016 I am supported by my wife Anna-Maria.
There will always be a needy person - sometimes it´s you, sometimes it will your neighbor. As a retired person I cannot think of better things to do with my time, than spending time with a seafarer. It's so good to experience that just lending a listening ear to one person and have empathy with him, can make a difference in somebody's look on life.
As a retired person I can make time to visit ships one day a week and to support the team in other practical ways. I visit seamen with a mission to help as a Seaman’s Christian Friend and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
I am married to Corrie and live in Sommelsdijk.
As a Christian, the gospel has a special place in my heart. Jesus' call for us to go into the world to share his message has always been my passion. What makes the ministry of SCFS so special, is the fact, that through the many ships coming to Rotterdam on a daily basis, the world is coming to us. It is a great privilege for me to be involved as a volunteer in this ministry among the seamen.
Due to my work as a seaman and my desire to spread the Gospel, working as a volunteer for SCFS is a great way to combine my experience of life on board with my Christian witness. SCFS’s priority is the clear preaching of God’s Word out of a concern for men’s souls. It is wonderful to be able to share about the saving power of Jesus Christ with people from so many different countries and cultures.
As a seaman and a Christian, I joined the team of SCFS in 2019 as a part-time volunteer. I saw that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. While regulations try to improve working conditions, crews are reduced in number. Many are exposed to a confusion of religions and aggressive pseudo-Christian cults. How much more do they need to hear the Truth which sets free. It is my passion to share the truth of the Gospel with the seamen.
